The registration fee for a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) in England and Wales is increasing from £82 to £92 per LPA, with the new fee applying to applications received by the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) from 17 November 2025. Applications received before this date will still be charged at the lower £82 fee.
If there is an error on the LPA you submit to the OPG and it is rejected, you will be charged a further registration fee. In addition, it will further delay the registration of the LPA, possibly at a time when it is urgently needed. Worst case, if the error relates to the LPA donor and they have since lost capacity, you may no long be able to register a LPA for them and have instead to apply for Deputyship via the Court of Protection, which is more expensive, less flexible and typically takes over a year to obtain.
